Just a quick update!

So, school has started and is in full swing. I LOVE my job!!! I am teaching 11th grade biology (taxonomy and classification), 11th grade english, and 12th grade english. I am super nervous about teaching english... I didn't prepare for it. Oh well... All is going well.

I have started working in the lab at school. I have been teaching my colleagues how to use our microscopes and materials in the lab. I am really enjoying it. I have been staying pretty busy, but don't worry I still love it here.

I am really enjoying Catandica. My site is absolutely beautiful. It has been raining for the past 3 weeks straight. The temp has been in the low to mid 70's during the day and 60's at night. LOVE IT! I just really hate the mosquitos! I sometimes have to go to bed early so that I can escape them and hide in my mosquito net.

I have been in Maputo for the last week. I have been here for med. I had a dental issue. Then once that was resolved I had a horrible reaction to my meds. I felt like I was going to die! Today I am feeling much better. I get to go home, to Catandica, tomorrow. Not really looking forward to the long chapa rides but I am anxious to get home. I miss my bed and my friends in town.

I'll try to update again soon. I hope all is going well! Miss everyone like crazy!

Love to all!

Christmas

Good day all!

How is life at home? So I heard about a crazy blizzard in OKC during Christmas! I cannot believe I missed it! I am super jealous!

I enjoyed Christmas with the Central gang. We all went to Gorongosa for the holiday! We had so much fun! It was really nice to be around friends on Christmas. I would have loved to be with my family but that really wasn’t an option. Although my family did call me and we got to talk for about an hour! I love phone time with my family!

Upon returning home from our mini vacation we discovered that our house was broken into. ONLY my stuff was taken. My ipod, DS, headlamp, and electrical converter (which didn’t work so I hope the losers who took it can’t charge ANYTHING of mine) were taken from my room. I was sad to lose my things but I am ok now. But a crazy thing happened… they didn’t take my computer which was underneath my ipod and DS.

The same day we got home we went to our director’s house down the street. We needed to tell him what happened. He was so very worried about us. The next day at 8 am there were guys here measuring our windows and doors for bars. I have never seen anyone in Mozambique get anything done that fast!

For New Year’s the roommate and I just stayed at our house. We could only be away from site one of the two holidays. We had to make ourselves stay up until midnight. We had an Office marathon. I guess it was pretty fun! I will defiantly remember how I celebrated 2010. Cannot believe it was in Mozambique… that is sooo cool!

So school starts next Friday (January 15th). I am getting excited! I really want to know which grade I will be teaching so I know what material I will be covering. Today I walked to the school because I needed to chat with my director and I got to talk with some of the students… it was awesome!

I don’t have any big plans for the last two weeks of freedom. I think I will just try to enjoy the free time while it lasts. I hope everyone is doing well!
